Who We Are

Founded as an orphanage in 1845, Elmcrest Children’s Center is now Central New York’s leading nonprofit focused on helping children facing major life challenges.

Elmcrest is a community of caring professionals providing services to children with a variety of emotional, behavioral, and developmental limitations in order to help them overcome barriers to success in their homes, in their schools, and in their communities.

What We Do

At Elmcrest, we bring hope to children who need it most. Our programs help foster children, children with mental health issues, and children with developmental disabilities. Many of our programs help children cope with childhood trauma from abuse, neglect and poverty.  Each year, Elmcrest helps more than 2,500 children and their family members.
