Who We Are

The Women's Economic Institute ("The WEI") is a community and economic development 501(C)(3) strategically focused in building economic sustainability, income security, and affordable housing in marginalized and low-income communities. The WEI serves BIPOC (Black and Indigenous People of Color) entrepreneurs, young adults (ages 12-24), and women returning to work through targeted advocacy, workforce development, small business growth, and affordable housing strategies; in turn enhancing job creation, college attainment/workforce stabilization, access to quality below market rate housing, and an opportunity to build neighborhood and generational wealth.

What We Do

Our strategy at The WEI is simple. -Deliver targeted programming and resources using the latest technology, analytics, and assessment tools. At The WEI we're committed to serving women and girls from all walks of life and helping them reach their best, brightest, and fullest potential through technical assistance, skills-based learning, financial literacy, personal/business/leadership development and healthy living environs. The WEI houses a business incubator for BIPOC women-entrepreneurism a professional closet, the Kids Place, and a 50+ person hi-tech WIFI accessible classroom with course offerings ranging from entrepreneurism and small business development to ESL/GED, Microsoft Certification, and other continuing education support.
