Who We Are
Sunshine Horses is the first rescue in Central New York to be accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Rescues (GFAS) following their gold standards as well as the guidelines from American Association of Equine Practitioners. The organization is accredited by the Standardbred Transition Alliance and recognized by the Equus Foundation with Guardian status. Sunshine operates 365 days-a-year thanks to over 150 dedicated volunteers who care for up to 34 horses at any given time—there are no paid positions. The organization remains committed to its mission (Helping Horses. Helping People.) serving the wider community. Over its 20+ year history, Sunshine has found loving homes for more than 250 horses and is one of the largest Standardbred rescue and adoption groups in New York State.
What We Do
Founded in 2003, Sunshine Horses is an independent adoption agency committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, retraining, and rehoming horses.
