Volunteers in the Syracuse area are invited to help us in our mission to preserve historic records from across New York State. The Central New York Digitization Center is located within the offices of the William G. Pomeroy Foundation on E. Brighton Avenue in Syracuse, NY. Digitization volunteers are trained to:
- Scan documents
- Handle fragile records
- Transport materials to and from partners and off-site storage
- Follow best practices for file management and inventory
Our Central New York Digitization Center has state-of-the-art digitization hardware that we typically operate Monday through Thursday in three-hour shifts, starting at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Volunteers are asked to commit to a shift once a week for at least three months.
All volunteers must attend a virtual orientation prior to their training.
