Dear Tree Planters,
Thank you for signing up to be a part of the CNY Land Trust’s largest reforestation effort to date! We are so happy you will be joining us. As Saturday is quickly approaching, we have some updates and instructions to share with you all. Please read carefully below:
- ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST SIGN THE WAIVER FORM. This is non-negotiable. Each individual must have their own form. Please note that each minor needs a signature from a parent or guardian on their form. You can print and bring with you ahead of time, or we will have them there at the event for you to sign on-site.
- PLEASE WATCH THE TRAINING VIDEO BEFORE THE EVENT! This will give you an idea of the process we will be using to plant trees! Click here to watch. We will be planting bare root tree seedlings using dibble bars, as shown in the video.
- ALL VOLUNTEERS NEED TO PARK AT THE AUSTIN PARK PARKING LOT. We have been working closely with the Town of Skaneateles, who has been very generous in offering us this space for our volunteers to park, in an effort to minimize disturbance to neighbors who live next to the Preserve. Volunteers will be shuttled over to the tree planting site via our friends from Laker Limo.
- WE WILL PROVIDE PIZZA FOR LUNCH. Pizza will be supplied by Valentine’s Pizza in Skaneateles for lunch, and we will also have snacks and water available.
- BRING WORK GLOVES. We will have some extras if you forget yours, but our supply is limited. Please also bring whatever you need to be safe and comfortable (sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, etc.).
- WE WANT EVERYONE TO HAVE FUN! Please keep in mind that this is a very large event, with many moving pieces, all to help protect our drinking water in Skaneateles Lake! We appreciate everyone’s participation and cooperation while we plant 3,500 trees in a single day!
