Who We Are
A Tiny Home for Good was founded in 2014 to meet an unmet community need: to support those facing homelessness by providing affordable, permanent housing and support services to encourage long-term housing stability. Prior to A Tiny Home for Good, the only permanent, affordable housing options available to individuals coming out of the shelter system were typically abysmal. Untenable roommate situations, complexes overrun with pests and code violations, and minimal support after move-in all contributed to a cycle where many people moved back to the shelter months, sometimes weeks, after moving out. A Tiny Home for Good was founded with the knowledge that to break the cycle, how we house the most marginalized needs to change. Since we started building in 2016, we’ve been breaking that cycle one person and one house at a time.
What We Do
In simple terms, A Tiny Home for Good serves three functions: construction manager, landlord, and care manager. By providing these services under one organization, we are able to build efficiently, maintain the dignity and affordability of our properties, and take an active interest in keeping our tenants housed. We believe in the dignity and value of all people. We follow a housing-first model meaning we meet our tenants where they are and do not require that they are sober, seek employment, have a clean record etc. We instead seek partnerships with case management organizations and provide further support systems to encourage long-term housing stability. There is no limit on length of stay. Individuals are encouraged to remain in our housing for as long as it meets their needs and they meet our basic lease requirements. This model is unique. A Tiny Home for Good is proud to offer a permanent solution to ending homelessness. It's also worth noting that tiny homes will always be a part of our model, but our housing options are expanding as we look to best meet the needs of our tenants and the community.
