Who We Are

LeadSafeCNY Coalition serves as the community coalition to address lead poisoning and housing-related environmental health hazards. The coalition brings together affected families, healthcare providers, housing experts, educators, government agencies, and residents to reduce childhood lead exposure and improve housing quality in Central New York.

What We Do

LeadSafeCNY Coalition aims to assess community needs and create a comprehensive strategy to eliminate childhood lead exposure and other housing-related environmental health hazards. To achieve this mission, the coalition advocates for safe, healthy, and affordable housing by empowering residents, strengthening local capacity, and promoting policy change.

  • Provides community outreach and education to raise awareness, prevent lead exposure, and promote indoor air quality.
  • Work with coalition partners to develop a skilled local workforce trained in lead-safe construction, remediation, and healthy home practices.
  • Promotes lead-free housing construction and renovation for long-term safety and sustainability.

At the heart of our work is the Social Care Navigator Program. Our Navigators are trusted guides who walk families through every step of creating a lead-safe, healthy home. Coordinate in-home lead paint and water testing and support families through results, remediation, and follow-up. Connect residents to medical care, housing repairs, financial aid, and legal services, reducing the burden of navigating complex systems. Bring resources directly to families through door-to-door outreach, faith-based partnerships, neighborhood walkthroughs, and community forums. Track outcomes in real time using coalition dashboards to ensure accountability and sustained progress. Advocate for healthier communities by collaborating with schools, healthcare providers, and local agencies to expand services and shape new strategies. Together, LeadSafeCNY Coalition and its partners are building a coordinated, community-driven response to end lead poisoning and creating healthier futures for all families.
