At the front desk, volunteers greet incoming guests, assist guests if needed, answer calls, and tend the gift shop. Our front desk volunteers are typically the first person visitors to our interpretive center see. Front desk volunteers often have the option to help with projects such as preparing education and special event program materials, inputting data, filing, and more. It is a huge help to have someone covering the front desk so that visitors feel welcome and staff can do their work without being interrupted at the desk. Training is provided to help volunteers feel comfortable staffing the desk on their own.
Weekly shifts are typically 3-4 hours on weekdays when the interpretive center is open (9:00am-4:00pm). We currently have volunteer gaps on Thursday AMs (9:00-1:00), and Thursday PMs (1:00-4:00).
