Thank you for your interest in volunteering to help us with the FIRST annual - "Run the Redline" 5k Run/3K Roll or Stroll! This will be an educational event that traces a portion of the infamous 'redline' that helped segregate Syracuse. "Redlining" maps deprived Syracuse's most racially integrated neighborhoods of opportunity, and their effects can still be felt today.
In the morning we'll need volunteers to help keep race participants safe along the route. The race will begin at 9 AM in front of the War Memorial on S. State St., so please be cautious of parking because there will be several road closures. Participants will need to be off the street by 11 AM! Once the last racers clear an area, work with local police to clear the roadblock if instructed. Please see the image below for a map of the route where volunteers will be placed.
- Roadblock and Route Assistances (45 - 50 Volunteers): Volunteers will be stationed along 5k and 3k course at Roadblocks along the route. Direct and cheer on runners, rollers and stroller. Keep them on course using voice and hand signals. No lifting. Able to walk and stand for a 2 hour shift.
