Help Adults in Your Community Learn Essential Digital Skills- Volunteer with LiteracyCNY to Bridge the Digital Divide!
LiteracyCNY is looking for dedicated volunteers to help adults in the City of Syracuse learn essential computer, smartphone, and tablet skills. Join us in our mission to bridge the digital divide by volunteering at various Syracuse Housing Authority (SHA) residential properties.
Location Details:
- SHA manages 15 residential properties offering low-income housing tax
credits, public housing, and Housing Choice Vouchers. These locations
serve populations that are significantly impacted by the digital divide.
- Drop-in sessions are located in public spaces such as community rooms and computer labs. LiteracyCNY volunteers do not enter private homes.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist individuals with beginner-level digital skills, including operating computers, smartphones, and tablets.
- Support residents in navigating digital platforms and using technology to access essential services and information.
Requirements:
- Complete our Digital Literacy Volunteer Training to learn about the program’s goals, the communities we serve, and how you can make an impact.
- Be available for 2-3 two-hour sessions a month for a minimum of 6 months.
