Description

We are celebrating the United Way Day of Caring on Monday, August 5th,  9 am - Noon.
We will desperately need your help to clean up and help make the Rosamond Gifford Zoo shine after two huge weekend events:

28th annual Brew at the Zoo
Friday, August 2nd
5:00 - 8:00 pm

Brew at the Zoo:  Over 2000 guest are expected to enjoy this popular, annual beer-tasting fundraiser features a selection of regional craft beers, wines and cocktails. Brew at the Zoo offers a variety of local food trucks, live entertainment throughout the zoo, animals on evening exhibit, a silent auction features animal artwork, collectables, dining experiences, movie and sports memorabilia, and more!

Paint the Zoo Blue
Sunday, August 4th
5:30 - 9:00 pm

Paint the Zoo BluePut on your blue shirts and let's get together as a community and celebrate the lives of our two fallen heroes, Ofc. Michael Jensen and Lt. Michael Hoosock. We will be holding this fundraiser/celebration of life event at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo with some of your favorite local food trucks, wineries, and distilleries.

United Way Day of Caring Volunteers will help us put the Rosamond Gifford Zoo to rights after these two back to back evening weekend events : moving Portalets, tables and chairs from zoo grounds to storage areas; dishwashing portable tasting station materials; getting an inventory of all event supplies and signage before returning these to storage areas; assisting with the removal of any post event debris from Zoo grounds; ensuring that all recyclable cardboard, bottles and cans are put in the correct recycling receptacles, etc.  We will have some office related / litter collection tasks for volunteers with limited physical abilities, but most of the work will require moderate physical activity (walking, standing, lifting and carrying somewhat heavy objects (tables) and boxes, bending & stretching, etc).    Teams welcome!

These are worthwhile events, and will need and appreciate your energy & enthusiasm to help with this major clean up!  Afterall, Asian Elephant Extravaganza is right around the corner on Saturday, August 17th!

Also, one of the other benefits of volunteering at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, is your ability to enjoy the Zoo after your morning volunteer hours are complete.  (Please note that any guests or family meeting you will need to pay admission, or be RGZ members), but our volunteers will be able to enjoy the rest of their day here!
