The Madison County Rural Health Council, Inc. (MCRHC) was established in April 2013 by a consortium of organizations representing the largest providers of health and social services in the county. Through the MCRHC local providers are better able to coordinate the county-wide alignment of health care resources, expertise and services, and evidence-based practices to meet health needs in our communities. Our Mission The mission of the Rural Health Council of Madison County is to improve the health of our communities by advocating, educating, and coordinating services for individuals and families. Our Vision Our vision is to be a pillar of support for a healthy community.
The GOMadison Volunteer Transportation (GMVT) program connects 60+, non-Medicaid, Madison County residents to volunteer drivers for transportation to non-emergency medical appointments, at no cost to them. GMVT accepts ride requests Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Rides can be one-way (drop-off or pick-up) or round trip where the driver waits during the appointment. Appointments can be in Madison or bordering counties and include: primary care or specialists, lab work, vision, dental, physical therapy, mental health, and pharmacy visits. Riders can use and bring their mobility aids (canes, walkers, etc.) however, they should be able to ambulate independently. Should they need assistance, we encourage having a companion rider, such as an aid or adult family member/friend ride with them. Contact us for more details.
The incredible volunteer drivers with the GMVT program provided seniors with 469 rides to medical appointments totaling over 20,240 miles in 2025.
